On October 28th, 41 men, women and children from Atlanta Mission went public with their faith and celebrated baptism at Buckhead Church. The special Baptism Service immediately followed the regularly scheduled 6:00PM service at the church and hundreds of supporters stayed after to cheer on our clients as they took a public stand for Christ.
Jeff Foxworthy, a long-time Atlanta Mission supporter, served as the emcee for the evening, and introduced each individual with a short testimony. Atlanta Mission believes that true transformation is possible, but it can only come through the power of Jesus Christ. Christ died for our sins and wants to have a personal relationship with each us. In the same vein, Atlanta Mission programs are designed to create opportunities to develop life on life relationships as Christ shows us.
This Baptism Service was a chance to show the city of Atlanta and the people that are homeless that this city cares, and together our community is going to end homelessness, one person at a time. Without our partners like Buckhead Church, we couldn’t do what we do. We are a city unified in ending homelessness, and it takes all of us getting involved to do the work that we’ve been called to do in Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.
Last but not least, a night of baptisms wouldn’t be complete without a lot of celebrating, and that was led by the amazing music of the Buckhead Church band. Not only did the testimonies shine light on the transformation that is occurring in the lives of those at Atlanta Mission, but the songs that were played also drove home a message of redemption and hope!
We want to say a big THANK YOU to Buckhead Church, and all who came to support this big moment in our friends’ lives. We recently changed our logo from a lamppost to a lantern, and there’s a significant reason for this. We believe that Atlanta Mission’s story of transformation and redemption should be mobile and carried out into the community by every one of our supporters. Each of you plays a critical role in helping us tell the city about the amazing work that God is doing in the people that we serve!
