The Power of Friendship
Amber battled severe depression her entire life, and never received the care she needed.
One of the first people she came in contact with was Brittany, her assigned Ambassador. They quickly developed a friendship, and Brittany referred Amber to behavioral health services. Brittany gave Amber “the push she needed” to Choose Help. Amber is soon entering our Make Progress services, where she will receive more services that will help her to end her homelessness.
“It has always been hard for me to trust and get to know people,” Amber says, “but being here has taught me that people aren’t as bad as I think. It’s taught me how to create real friendships with people.”
Our Ambassadors aim to safely take down our clients’ walls and build friendships with them.
They create an environment in which clients feel safe to share their stories, process their options, and are gently encouraged through hardships and roadblocks they encounter.
