In times of crisis, heroes go above and beyond the call of duty. On May 5, 2020, #GivingTuesdayNow, we saw heroes rise from across our community and show extraordinary generosity.

#GivingTuesdayNow was created as a Global Day of Action, calling individuals to contribute to nonprofit organizations that were serving during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were honored to participate as an essential business that serves hundreds of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness during this uncertain time.

Not sure what to expect, we began #GivingTuesdayNow with a lower initial goal. However, by 10 a.m., we were surprised and humbled by the outpouring of donations we were receiving.

Our team continued to watch, with tears in our eyes, as donations poured in throughout the day. Donors gave in memory of family members, out of their love for our organization, or in honor of someone they knew who had been through our programs. By the time #GivingTuesdayNow came to a close, we raised over $55,000 to provide nourishing food, safe shelter, and a healthy environment to those without a home.

The generosity of the Atlanta Mission family never ceases to amaze us. You always show up. You always make sure those we serve have an opportunity to transform their lives.
