How to Get Your Family and Friends Involved in the 5K Race to End Homelessness

Our 5K Race to End Homelessness is going virtual this year. That means you can join from wherever you are to help us end homelessness one person at a time.

With COVID, we all want to be safe. But we know how much better a 5K is when you’re able to do it with others – especially your friends and family. The good news is, you can have your friends and family join you! And the better news is, they don’t have to be in Atlanta to join this year. Anyone from anywhere in the world can join you for this 5K Race to End Homelessness.

Here are a few ideas:

  1. Create a team and have your friends and family join your team. When you sign up for the 5K, choose the option to start a team rather than joining as an individual. This allows you to have friends and family join you in running or walking in the cold for those who spend nights in the cold.
  2. Share why you are running/walking the Atlanta Mission 5K on social media. This helps you spread the word and your passion behind joining this year’s 5K. Be sure to use #ATLMission5K on your post!
  3. Coordinate a day and time that you can all run/walk together. You can do the 5K together, from a distance! Take pictures and videos and send to each other while you walk or run. Since you’re all doing it at the same time, it will almost feel like you’re together in Atlanta.
  4. Fundraise. When you sign up for the 5K, you will be given a fundraising page. You can share this with others and have them donate to your cause. Consider setting a goal and seeing if your friends and family can help you reach your goal before the 5K officially ends on February 27th.

Our 5K Race to End Homelessness officially kicks off on February 20th. Though this year’s event looks different than years past, we hope this will be our biggest 5K yet! Have your friends and family join you, and let’s race to end homelessness together.
