Imagining a Better Future

In June of this year, Atlanta Mission launched our new tagline: “Hope Lives Here.” We’re excited about how these words express both the work we do and the heart of our organization. We want to be a place where people discover hope and imagine a better future for themselves.

Systemic and generational injustice and pain can dampen a person’s hope for the future. When this happens, people begin to experience relational poverty and fall prey to difficulties they might otherwise avoid. For many of the clients we serve, hope has become a scarce commodity. While we offer physical support to assist them out of homelessness, many of the soft services we provide make the biggest difference in reigniting hope in their hearts.

Atlanta Mission believes that hope in the future begins with meeting people right where they are. To that end, we welcome all—those who are experiencing violence, eviction, health issues, job loss, addiction, and more. We’re convinced that our posture of hopefulness can shine light on places in a person’s life they may have given up to darkness.

By providing customized services to our clients, we build upon that foundation of welcome. From job skills classes to health checkups and mental health referrals, we show the people we serve that addressing the root causes of homelessness actually makes a difference. When a client can imagine themselves living free from addiction or landing a job, they’re reestablishing hope where it once was gone.

Finally, Atlanta Mission is committed to supporting our clients as they launch into new life. Our Ambassadors offer ongoing encouragement, and our Atlanta Mission Next Steps program provides employment support. Perhaps most exciting, we rejoice with former clients when they come to work and serve with us—offering their hard-won wisdom and experience to those still searching for a different life.

“Hope Lives Here” is more than just a tagline. At Atlanta Mission, it’s a testimony of the hopeful futures that we’re building every day through all of the work that we do. It’s our motivation to keep piercing the darkness with light and bringing hope to those who need it most.
