Stories of Transformation

Anthony’s Story

Anthony’s world was flipped upside down after his mother’s death. “I cried a lot at my mom’s funeral,” he said. “I didn’t realize I was holding that much pain inside of me.”

Through the heartbreak, Anthony continued to work while also managing the responsibilities associated with his mother’s death. Unfortunately, the income that Anthony was bringing in from his job was not enough to sustain his living situation and take care of his mother’s responsibilities. Anthony was forced to give up his home.

Anthony tried to stay at hotels near his job, but the financial difficulty of it put him in a tough situation. He soon made the decision to come to Atlanta Mission. Anthony had heard a lot about Atlanta Mission and knew the organization would be able to help him. He arrived at The Shepherd’s Inn and was given a comfortable place to stay.

At first, Anthony continued working at his job while staying at The Shepherd’s Inn. The travel to work and back to The Shepherd’s Inn was long and taxing on Anthony though. Anthony talked to his Ambassador at Atlanta Mission and was introduced to a program called Make Progress. The Make Progress program helps clients set goals for themselves and work towards achieving these goals. Anthony decided to enter into Make Progress.

Anthony has come a long way since he was devastated by his mother’s death. He is looking forward to getting a job and supporting himself as he did before his mother’s death. “I’m so grateful for Atlanta Mission and I’m grateful for what I learned through the program,” Anthony says.

“I am grateful for the new friends I’ve made here and for my relationship with God. I’m hopeful for the things that are about to happen for me.”

Thank you for being part of Anthony’s story! Because of our generous supporters, he was able to find hope at Atlanta Mission.
