Stories of Transformation

Success Story: Nikki

One of the best things is when we hear from a client after they leave our facilities. Building trusted relationships with our clients is very important to us, so knowing these relationships last after they leave is special.

Recently, Nikki, a former client at My Sister’s House, emailed us an update on her life. She has allowed us to share her update so you can get a small glimpse into the life change that takes place and the relationships that are built at Atlanta Mission.

Nikki has now been on her own in a new apartment for 5 months. She has a job working in security as she’s training and preparing to join the Police Academy. She looks back on her time at My Sister’s House with love and appreciation, especially toward the women that helped to change her life.

“I wanted to take the time to thank the staff for making a tremendous impact on my life. If it wasn’t for you all and those classes, I don’t know what my life would’ve been like now.”

From counselors to social workers to the friends she made along her journey – these are the women that built relationships with Nikki, loving her for who she is, while encouraging her to be her best self. There are so many people involved in helping to change a person’s life, and they all matter.

There are many classes our clients have the opportunity to take, from life skills to vocational training. These classes help prepare our clients for living on their own once they leave our facilities. The goal is for clients to become rooted in community, retain employment, and become housing eligible. Nikki accomplished this and continues to sustain and grow. We are so proud of her!

“Thank you all so much for helping me become the best person that I knew I could be. Thank you all for believing in me and never giving up on me, even when I started to give up on myself.”

Nikki is focused on her plans for the future. She hopes to come back to Atlanta Mission soon to volunteer and help those that are currently staying at My Sister’s House, giving back to the place and community that changed her life.

“There is nothing but greatness that comes from Atlanta Mission.”
