Our Commitment to Justice

Our Commitment to Justice

Atlanta Mission is a community united to end homelessness and provide hope. Our community is made whole by people of all colors, backgrounds, and ethnicities. We are proud to stand with the Black community. We acknowledge their worth, dignity, and belonging.

We call for justice for atrocities committed against Black and Brown people in our community, in our country, and in our world. We believe that Jesus has commanded us to be openhanded and serve all, especially the oppressed, the downtrodden, and the people on the margins of society.

We confess that we can and will do a better job speaking up for our brothers and sisters. The only way there can be change is if we all come together and stand for what is right. We pray that God fills us with unity, knowledge, and a yearning for justice. We are committed to engaging in hard and transformative conversations about race and privilege.

For the past eighty years, we have aimed to shine the light of Christ in our city. Because of the systematic racism and oppression in our country, the majority of the people we serve are Black and Brown individuals. We are a family, and as a family, we grieve together for the state of our country. We remain committed to helping the most vulnerable in our city by providing them a safe place, amplifying their voices, and encouraging life transformation through Christ.

We stand in solidarity with all people of color. We denounce all forms of racism and injustice. We commit to continuing to learn, listen, and act on behalf of the oppressed.
