Prayers for the New School Year

As the new school year begins in Atlanta, many children look forward to fresh starts, new friendships, and exciting learning experiences. However, for children facing homelessness, the back-to-school season can bring a mix of anxiety and uncertainty. As a faith-based organization, we believe in the power of prayer to bring comfort, hope, and strength to these young students and their families at Restoration House and My Sister’s House.
We invite you to join us in lifting them up in prayer as they navigate this important time.
What to pray for:
- Peace and stability. Pray for a sense of peace and stability in their lives. Ask God to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment where they can focus on their education without fear or anxiety.
- Verse to pray: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
- Strength and resilience. Pray for strength and resilience for these students as they face the unique challenges of homelessness. Ask God to give them the determination to persevere and succeed in their studies.
- Verse to pray: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
- Supportive teachers and classmates. Pray that teachers and classmates will be compassionate and supportive, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Verse to pray: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2
- Provision of needs. Pray for the provision of all necessary school supplies, clothing, and resources that our students need to thrive in their education.
- Verse to pray: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
- Encouragement for parents. Pray for our parents, asking God to give them wisdom, strength, and encouragement as they support their children’s education amidst challenging circumstances.
- Verse to pray: “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” – Psalm 23:1
More ways to help
In addition to your prayers, there are other ways you can support our students facing homelessness as they start the new school year. We have created an Amazon Wish List with essential back-to-school items that our children need.
Your generous donations will help ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed.
