Stories of Transformation

Will: Atlanta Mission Staff Story

Will Wilson has been on staff at Atlanta Mission for almost three years. He came from a military background and spent time serving as the chaplain for the Army National Guard. He has worked in various roles with Atlanta Mission, starting as the Vocational Training Assistant, moving into the Transitional Housing Leader at Fuqua Hall, and now serves as the Community Living Leader.

In the military, Will worked with men who came home from deployment and were working through trauma and PTSD. He would help them reintegrate into society. When he was moved to the role of Transitional Housing Leader at Fuqua Hall, he realized he was doing the same thing just in a different setting, and he loved it. The men at Atlanta Mission have similar trauma and are trying to reintegrate themselves into society as well.

He now serves as the Community Living Leader, which means he makes sure everyone and everything on our campus is safe and secure. Every day for him looks different. It could be as simple as diffusing tension on campus to overseeing the protocol for how we operate during COVID-19.

“The thing about the Community Living Leader position that excites me the most is that I like not just working with the men, but I like helping them professionally and personally develop.”

When someone walks through our doors it is so encouraging to know that someone like Will will be there to help guide them professionally, personally, and spiritually, so that when they leave they will be prepared to walk into life with the lessons they learned through their time at Atlanta Mission.

We are so grateful for people like Will who give their lives to the overall development of our clients each day.
