How The Potter’s House Helps Men Recover from Addiction

At The Potter’s House, we meet men who are carrying more than addiction.

Many of the men who come to us are also carrying trauma, grief, broken relationships, homelessness, shame, isolation, and years of trying to survive on their own. Addiction may be the reason they are looking for help, but it is rarely the only part of their story.

They are why The Potter’s House exists.

Our men’s addiction recovery center in Northeast Georgia gives men a safe, structured place to begin again. Through long-term residential recovery, counseling, classes, mentorship, spiritual growth, and community, we help men face the roots of addiction and begin rebuilding their lives with hope.

We have seen men arrive feeling broken, exhausted, and unsure if change is still possible. We have also seen those same men begin to heal, reconnect with family, grow in faith, take responsibility for their futures, and help other men who are walking through the same struggle.

The Potter’s House is not just a place where men stop using drugs or alcohol. It is a place where men begin learning how to live differently.

A Recovery Center Built Around Healing and Hope

The Potter’s House is Atlanta Mission’s long-term residential addiction recovery program for men. Located on a large farm just north of Atlanta, the campus gives men space to step away from instability, focus on recovery, and begin rebuilding their lives with structure, faith, counseling, mentorship, and community.

For many men, recovery starts when they finally feel safe enough to be honest about what they have experienced. At The Potter’s House, we help men address the deeper roots of addiction while learning how to build healthy relationships, set boundaries, reconnect with family when possible, and prepare for life beyond the program.

Why Men Come to The Potter’s House

Every man who comes to The Potter’s House has his own story. Some have battled addiction for decades. Some have lost jobs, homes, or relationships. Some have spent years moving between jail, treatment programs, shelters, and unstable living situations that often result in homelessness. Others are carrying deep wounds from childhood, family loss, abuse, or abandonment.

We do not reduce those men to the worst chapters of their lives.

We know addiction often grows out of pain that has never been healed. Many men have used drugs or alcohol to cope with trauma, depression, grief, loneliness, or fear. Over time, what started as a way to escape pain becomes the very thing that causes more pain.

At The Potter’s House, we help men slow down long enough to understand what is underneath the addiction. That deeper work is not easy. It requires honesty, vulnerability, accountability, and support. But we have seen what can happen when men are willing to face the truth and receive help.

Real Stories from Men Who Found Hope at The Potter’s House

We don’t have to explain the impact of The Potter’s House only through our program details. The men who have walked through recovery here tell the story best.

Each of these stories is different, but they point to the same truth we see every day: recovery is not only about stopping substance use. It is about helping men heal, rebuild, and rediscover hope within themselves.

Why These Stories Matter

Sean, Jimmy, and Daniel have different stories, but their journeys reveal something we see often at The Potter’s House.

Addiction is rarely isolated. It is often connected to trauma, grief, family pain, homelessness, mental and emotional struggle, broken relationships, and years of unresolved hurt. If we only address the substance use, we miss the deeper need. That is why our men’s addiction recovery program is built around the whole person, and support is tailored to their needs as an individual.

We want men to experience more than temporary relief. We want them to find healing, stability, purpose, and hope. We want them to leave with tools they can carry into their families, communities, jobs, and futures.

The work is not always quick. It is not always easy. But we have seen men change. We have seen them become honest about their past, committed to their recovery, and hopeful about what comes next.

Helping Men Find Hope Through Addiction Recovery

At The Potter’s House, we believe no man is beyond hope.

We have watched men arrive carrying addiction, homelessness, trauma, grief, and shame. We have watched them take difficult first steps. We have watched them open up in counseling, find strength in community, reconnect with family, grow in faith, and begin preparing for a new life. That is why this work matters so deeply to us.

The Potter’s House is a men’s addiction recovery center, but it is also a place of restoration. It is a place where men can step away from survival mode and begin asking better questions about who they are, what they have survived, and what kind of future is still possible.

For Sean, Jimmy, Daniel, and many others, The Potter’s House has been a place to begin again.

And every day, we continue walking with men who are ready to recover, rebuild, and rediscover hope.
