Make the most of your shopping visit
Arrive with a few ideas about what you need while leaving room to explore.
If you are considering furniture, measure your room, doorways, and available vehicle space beforehand. For other purchases, think about how an item will fit into your home or wardrobe and examine its condition before deciding.
Because specific secondhand finds cannot be guaranteed, treat photographs and examples as inspiration rather than a promise of current availability. Call the store if you have a question that will determine whether you make the trip.
Shopping is also a way to participate in the ministry. Proceeds from Atlanta Mission’s thrift stores help fund the organization’s programs.
Bring donations you are ready to pass along
Our stores accept a range of new and gently used goods, including clothing, linens, furniture, and household items, subject to acceptance guidelines.
Before loading your vehicle, review the current list of accepted donations. Check each item’s condition and call with questions about anything large, unusual, or difficult to transport.
Keep small items together and make sure you have collected all the pieces belonging to a donated item. For furniture, ask about acceptance and unloading arrangements before making the journey.
You can also find information about donation pickup on the thrift-store page if you are considering a larger contribution.
Ask about volunteering
If you would like to become involved beyond shopping or donating, ask about serving at a store.
Volunteers assist with customer service and donated goods. Contact the location where you would like to serve to discuss current opportunities and the next steps for participating.
Think about the time you can reliably offer and whether you prefer an individual role or a group activity. Sharing that information helps the team discuss a suitable opportunity with you.
